Like a Humvee that can tackle the roughest terrain and still cruise on the highway, BlackGold Biofuels' patent-pending process can convert the crudest, lowest-quality fats, oils, and greases and still easily handle the purest conventional feedstocks. Biodiesel produced using BlackGold's technology meets all the requirements of the national biodiesel quality standard, ASTM D6751 and addresses the many challenges of converting brown greases, including deodorization and elimination of contaminants.

BlackGold's process was designed for trap grease, which has free fatty acid (FFA) percentages that vary from 40%-100%. This variability prohibits the use of a conventional 'acid-base' biodiesel process, which would require labor-intensive in-line modification or sustain high yield losses under these conditions. With this variability in mind, BlackGold developed unique conversion chemistry that works with any FFA and triglyceride values. This true feedstock flexibility enables the successful processing of brown greases, yellow greases, rendered fats, and virgin plant oils all in the same process - whether they are processed individually or blended.

For municipalities wrestling with fats, oils, and greases (FOG), this flexibility means that BlackGold's FOG-to-Fuel™ process can be used as a disposal pathway for many different FOG types. New FOG streams can be accepted on-site, diversifying revenue from trucked in waste and/or reducing internal disposal costs.
