| Like a Humvee that can tackle the roughest terrain and still cruise on the highway, BlackGold Biofuels' patent-pending process can convert the crudest, lowest-quality fats, oils, and greases and still easily handle the purest conventional feedstocks. Biodiesel produced using BlackGold's technology meets all the requirements of the national biodiesel quality standard, ASTM D6751 and addresses the many challenges of converting brown greases, including deodorization and elimination of contaminants. BlackGold's process was designed for trap grease, which has free fatty acid (FFA) percentages that vary from 40%-100%. This variability prohibits the use of a conventional 'acid-base' biodiesel process, which would require labor-intensive in-line modification or sustain high yield losses under these conditions.
